Discipline of Meditation for Participants

  1. Participants must complete the registration form and return to the committee as soon as possible for the number of participants data collection.
  2. Participants are required to be present at the place of departure (Vihara Jakarta Dhammacakka Jaya - Jl. Agung Permai XV No. 12 Block C, Sunter Agung Podomoro - Jakarta Utara) at 07:00 AM for re-registration, medical examination, and further direction.
  3. Participants are required to carry out medical examination and notify the drugs taken regularly. If the examination indicates the applicants do not meet the specified health requirements  then the committee have the right to refuse the participation of the candidate.
  4. Yogis are required to get up at 3:00 AM and rest at 21:00, there is no nap.
  5. Yogis are required to observe Atthangasila / Eight Precepts (ie, among others, not wearing jewelry and no dinner).
  6. Yogis are required to bring blankets and sarong. Bring also clothing / white shirts sufficiently for the period of exercise (dress must be polite and suitable, not tight). Women yogis are required to wear plain brown sarong. Man yogis simply wear white shirts and sarong.
  7. During exercise, yogis are:
    1. prohibited from speaking with fellow yogis.
    2. forbidden to whisper, correspondence, writing, reading, playing or listening to music, singing, and whistling
    3. strictly forbidden to bring and consume drugs, cigarettes, drink alcoholic beverages or the like.
    4. prohibited from bringing food into kutis (bedroom).
  8. Yogis are required to leave their wallet, cell phone, pda, camera, tape, car keys and the like under the care of special safe deposit committee.
  9. Yogis must do sitting meditation in Dhammahall at the specified place and schedule. At the time of sitting meditation, leaning against the wall, pole or whatever to support the back and head are not allowed.
  10. Men yogis are not allowed to pass through the border of women yogic exercise area and vice versa.
  11. Yogis are not allowed to go home or out of the compound without permission from the committee or meditation instructor.
  12. Yogi must follow Mahasi meditation techniques taught by the instructor.
  13. Yogis are required to maintain healthy and clean environment of the exercise area during the period of staying .
  14. Disorder or illness arising out of the Vipassana practice which do not follow instructions of instructor are not the responsibility of the committee.
  15. The committee reserves the right to suspend and ask yogis to leave the compound if they do not follow the rules or disciplines.
