Sayadaw is a student of Mahasi Sayadaw and Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa of Mahasi Centre, Rangoon Myanmar (Burma). Sayadaw U Pandita was born in Yankin township, Rangoon, Myanmar. In 1979, Sayadaw was ordained as a samanera and became a full fledge bhikkhu in 1984 under the guidance of Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa.
Sayadaw has done extensive meditation practice and holds a BA in Buddhist literature. Sayadaw, a well and highly respected Burmese Meditation teacher, has conducted meditation classes at the renowned Panditarama Meditation Centre in Rangoon, Myanmar and also internationally in the United States of America, Malaysia and Australia. Sayadaw was Chief Resident monk at the Malaysian Buddhist Meditation Centre (Penang) and founded the Novitiate programme in 2000. Sayadaw conducted the Novitiate programme until 2003 before starting Dhamma Sukha Meditation Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Sayadaw is bi-lingual and able to give meditation instructions in English or Burmese. |
